Canadian Geographic Recognizes the Alberta Birds of Prey Nature Centre
On June 2nd Canadian Geographic presented the Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation and Town of Coaldale with a Canadian Environment Award at its 2008 awards ceremony in Toronto. Facility founder Colin Weir was on hand to accept the “Gold Award” in the category of “Restoration and Rehabilitation”. The award was given to our organization based on the 20 year history of how our present site was developed partly as a storm water retention project for the Town of Coaldale and adjacent County of Lethbridge lands.
Recognition from a prestigious publication such as Canadian Geographic is great news for our staff, volunteers and supporters since it is a wonderful tribute to everyone who has helped us in various ways over the past 25 years. The recognition will translate into a significant boost for our grass roots work of rescuing injured birds and inspiring young minds through environmental learning.
