Another case needing quick action involved a Merlin Falcon that was reported to be laying along a curb of a busy street in Lethbridge. When we arrived at the scene, the bird was unable to fly and could only lie helplessly on its side. Lucky to be alive, this poor bird was inches away from being run over by passing vehicles.
With one eye swollen shut it appeared the bird most likely flew into the path of an oncoming vehicle and met a windshield head on. Within minutes of picking up the bird, our veterinary clinic Uplands Pet Hospital was able to admit the bird immediately and administer anti-inflamatory injections for possible brain swelling.
A few weeks later, the falcon was completely recovered and fit for release back to the wild.
